Hydraulic Breaker for 30 Ton Excavator: LC-150, LC-155 or LC-165?

Which hydraulic breaker for a 30 ton excavator? Compare the LC-150, LC-155 and LC-165 by oil flow, pressure, weight and impact energy, and match one to your circuit.

A 30 ton excavator sits where three LICH hydraulic breaker sizes overlap: the LC-150 and LC-155 are built for 25–30 t carriers, and the LC-165 for 30–36 t. Choosing the right hydraulic breaker for 30 ton excavator work comes down to how much oil flow and pressure the machine’s auxiliary circuit delivers, how heavy a tool the boom can handle comfortably, and what you are breaking. This guide compares the three models with their published figures and shows how to pick between them.

The three candidates

Model Excavator class Breaker weight Chisel diameter Oil flow Working pressure Impact rate Impact energy
LC-150 25–30 t 2,448 kg 150 mm 130–190 L/min 170–190 bar 280–400 bpm 9,380 J
LC-155 25–30 t 2,739 kg 155 mm 180–240 L/min 180–230 bar 200–300 bpm 10,930 J
LC-165 30–36 t 3,217 kg 165 mm 190–260 L/min 200–240 bar 150–300 bpm 13,200 J
LC-175 36–40 t 3,757 kg 175 mm 200–250 L/min 210–240 bar 120–200 bpm 15,500 J

Figures from the LICH model specifications, read on 14 October 2026. The LC-175 is listed for reference as the next size up.

Step 1: check the circuit before choosing a hydraulic breaker for 30 ton excavator use

Start with the numbers on your excavator, not the breaker. Find the flow and relief pressure available at the auxiliary (breaker) line from the machine manual or the dealer. Then read across the table:

  • Circuit around 130–190 L/min at 170–190 bar: the LC-150 sits inside that window and runs at its full impact rate.
  • Circuit around 180–240 L/min: the LC-155 uses the extra flow for 17% more impact energy than the LC-150 (10,930 J against 9,380 J).
  • Circuit around 190–260 L/min at 200–240 bar: the LC-165 is the strongest hydraulic breaker for 30 ton excavator carriers in the range, with 13,200 J per blow.

Too little flow slows the breaker down; too much flow or pressure above the listed range overheats the oil and wears seals early. The full matching method, including back pressure and hose size, is in our guide on how to match a hydraulic breaker to an excavator.

Step 2: weigh the boom and stability

The three models weigh 2,448 kg, 2,739 kg and 3,217 kg. A heavier breaker hits harder but loads the boom, the arm cylinder and the machine’s stability, especially at long reach or on a slope. On a 30 ton excavator that works the breaker close in, on level ground, all three are practical; for long-reach work or a lighter 28 t machine, the LC-150 or LC-155 keeps more margin.

Step 3: match the model to the work

  • Secondary breaking in a quarry (oversize boulders at the face or at the crusher): energy per blow matters most. The LC-165, or the LC-155 on a smaller circuit.
  • Trenching and excavation in rock: a balance of energy and impact rate. The LC-155 delivers 200–300 blows per minute at 10,930 J.
  • Concrete and foundation demolition: a faster impact rate clears reinforced concrete quickly. The LC-150, at up to 400 blows per minute.
  • Mixed contracting work: the LC-155 is the middle choice that suits most 30 ton excavator fleets.

Step 4: choose the body

All three are available as a silent box-type body for urban and noise-limited sites, a tower (top-mounted) body for continuous rock work, and a triangular side-mounted body for general demolition and quarry work. Our box type vs open type guide compares the three.

Chisels and wear parts

The model number is the chisel diameter: the LC-150 takes a 150 mm tool, the LC-155 a 155 mm tool and the LC-165 a 165 mm tool. Plan at least one spare chisel and a seal kit with the first order of any hydraulic breaker for 30 ton excavator work, because a working quarry hammer goes through tools quickly. See tool shapes on the hydraulic breaker bits page and the full wear-part list on the hydraulic breaker parts page.

Questions buyers ask

What size hydraulic breaker for 30 ton excavator work?

A 150–165 mm class breaker weighing about 2.4–3.2 t: the LC-150, LC-155 or LC-165, chosen by the excavator’s breaker-circuit flow and pressure.

Can a 30 ton excavator run the LC-175?

The LC-175 is listed for 36–40 t carriers. On a 30 t machine, choose the LC-165 instead.

How does this compare with a 20 ton machine?

The 20–25 t class uses the LC-135 and LC-140; see our 20 ton hydraulic rock breaker guide.

Send us your excavator model, breaker-circuit flow and pressure, and the main material you break. We will confirm the hydraulic breaker for 30 ton excavator use on your machine and quote it with hoses, a spare chisel and a seal kit. Compare every size in the hydraulic breaker specifications chart.
